WORLD JR'S: Ontario's Halbert 13th in men's night slalom

Ladies get downhill training underway prior to Thursday's race
REGION MONT BLANC, FRA (February 2, 2010) - Toronto Ski Club's Kelby Halbert (Bradford, ON) finished 13th in today's men's night slalom at the 2010 FIS Alpine World Junior Ski Championships in France.
Halbert said he struggled in the opening run starting with the 34th bib number, ending his first run in 25th. He followed up the first run with the 10th fastest second run to finish with a two-run time of one minute 33.89 seconds.
"In the first run the course wasn't as clean as the first guys, but I didn't ski that well either," said Halbert. "I made a couple little mistakes that I shouldn't have."
Reto Schmidiger of Switzerland won today's slalom in a two-run time of 1:30.97 with Austria's Lukas Tippelreither was second with Russia's Sergei Maitakov third. Sasha Zaitsoff (Balfour, BC) finished 28th.
The ladies got downhill training underway today with Jasmin Rothmund of Switzerland finishing with the quickest time. Victoria Stevens (Mont-Tremblant, QC) was 23rd.
The ladies continue with the second downhill training run tomorrow.
