Alpine Canada Alpin has invited ski journalist Michael Mastarciyan to help tell the story of our team and our skiers through his own words and pictures.
As Senior Editor of SRC - Ski Racing Canada magazine, "Marsy" as he's known to friends, is frequently found at World Cup finish corrals and mix zones at races across North America and Europe.
A passionate ski racing enthusiast and adventure lover, Marsy often has a front row seat to the breaking news of our sport, as well as some of the more entertaining stories behind the headlines.
These are some of the stories and pictures he's agreed to share with us. ![]()
Over the next few months I will be following the men and women on the Canadian Alpine Ski Team as they travel the world looking for fast tracks, good snow and great runs.
My itinerary will include stops in Lake Louise, Wengen, Kitzbuehel and then finally on to Whistler for the Olympic Winter Games.
The best way I know how to tell a story, is to plant myself as close to it as possible when it’s happening – kind of like Forrest Gump.
Some people call this Gonzo journalism, the style made famous by the late Hunter S. Thompson.
I like to call it Forrest Gump journalism, because I think my I.Q. is probably closer to Forrest Gump’s than Hunter S. Thompson’s – and because like Forrest, I think life is like a box of chocolates too!
I’m hoping you’ll have as much fun as I do on this journey, as we join this incredible group of skiers on the ride of a lifetime!
