Race Entry Policy & Procedure - North American Events of all Levels

Alpine Canada Alpin promotes a mandate of leadership for excellence and sport participation through organization, governance & regulation in all levels of participation.

Athlete/Coach Responsibility

Prior to placing a request with your PSO for entry into any level of racing, coaches and athletes must ensure:

  • Athlete is registered for a FIS Card via PSO & is active
  • Athlete is paid and in good standing with Alpine Canada Alpin
  • Coach has been in contact with PSO to educate him or herself on PSO race entry policy

Race Entry Request Policy

ACA will not accept race entry requests directly from coaches. All race entry requests for all levels of racing must flow through the PSO.

Race entry requests are submitted by the coach to the registered PSO of the athlete a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the event start date for events of all levels (please verify your PSO's race entry policy as they may have additional requirements and timelines).

PSO's will compile & rank requests and submit 1 completed race entry form for each competition. Competitions for both sexes will require 1 form per gender. PSO's will submit a complete race entry form to Jennifer Duggan ( Cette adresse email est protégée contre les robots des spammeurs, vous devez activer Javascript pour la voir. ) Manager, National Services, 2 weeks prior to the 1st Team Captains meeting.

  • Deletions (pulls) will be accepted after the 2 week deadline.
  • Late additions will only be accepted if any spaces remain on entry after deadline closes.
  • Requests received after the deadline will be filled by date received not FIS points if any spaces remain on the entry.
  • Keep in mind any CAST requests will take priority for all events up to 24 hrs prior to first Team Captains meeting

Late Registrations & Double Entries

FIS ICR rule 215.1.3 states Only National Ski Associations are entitled to make entries for international competitions. No coach is authorized to enter his/her athletes direct to a ROC prior to a Team Captains meeting.

No late entries will be accepted by Race Administrators & Technical Delegates at Team Captains meeting irregardless of field size. Coaches are NOT permitted to approach a Race Administrator or Technical Delegate to solicit entry into a race unless they are listed on the official CAN entry. This rule will apply for all CAN races and all international competition.

Coaches or PSO's found soliciting late entry at events will be sanctioned monetarily (equal to race entry fee) and suspended from subsequent requests until fine has been paid in full to ACA.

According to FIS ICR rule 215.1.2 National Ski Associations are not permitted to enter the same competitors in more than one competition on the same date. Any racer found to be on multiple race entries on the same day will be sanctioned monetarily (equal to race entry fee) and suspended from their following (1) race entry request & subsequent requests until fine has been paid in full to ACA.

Race Entry Pulls

Termination of confirmed race entry must be communicated via PSO. Withdrawal from a race must be communicated to ACA 5 days prior to first Team Captains meeting. As communication is key it is permissible to include ACA (Jennifer Duggan Cette adresse email est protégée contre les robots des spammeurs, vous devez activer Javascript pour la voir. ) on the communication to the PSO informing them of the withdrawal from the race.

FIS ICR rule 217.4 Competitors who have been drawn and are not present during the

competition, must be named by the TD in his report, indicating if possible the reasons for absence.

Any athlete showing on a draw board without coach representation will be recorded by the Race Administrator & Technical Delegate reports in accordance with FIS ICR Rule 217.4 and communicated to ACA. ACA will issue a monetary sanction equal to the race entry fee. Sanctions will be billed to PSO and must be paid in full before a future race entry will be received for the athlete in question.
